Confirmation Class
When students reach 10th grade, they participate in Confirmation class and activities, as the culmination of their formal Jewish learning, through their congregations. The students attend seminar style lessons with the clergy of both synagogues, where they focus on their role in the world, particularly through their Jewish identity and the responsibility it entails, and touch ethical topics such as “Lashon Hara”, “Geneivat Da’at” and more.
In addition, the students take a special trip to New York where they visit Jewish educational institutions or museums, have kosher meals, and enjoy a Broadway show.
At the end of the year, the students lead a special Confirmation service in their home synagogue, during which they not only lead the prayers, but read essays or “D’var Torah” they have written relating to the service, the Confirmation experience, and being a young Jewish adult.
